General information

The German Family Association

is a non-profit association that works for the interests of families nationwide, without political party or religious affiliation. The Thuringian regional association has been in existence since 1990, is a member of the PARITÄT welfare association and a provider of voluntary youth welfare services. In Erfurt (Ernst-Haeckel-Straße 17/18) we run a family center, the Family Club.

We have been organizing holiday camps for children and young people since 1992 to support families in looking after their children during the holidays. In our holiday camps, children go on holiday without their parents. They meet new friends, discover foreign areas, gain new experiences, recover from everyday stress and have fun in the community with their peers.

Reduced prices:

Organisational tips
Holiday camps are held in selected and seasonally suitable accommodation. The locations are mostly in the countryside, as the children should be able to move around in the fresh air. The accommodation is equipped with multi-bed rooms and shared sanitary facilities and is of youth hostel standard. It is important for parents to know that their children are well looked after during the trip. Depending on the age of the children, there is one group leader for every 8 to 14 children. They supervise and occupy the participants to a reasonable extent. The well-being of the children is always our top priority. Primary school children receive particularly intensive supervision and are kept more busy. Young people are of course given more freedom, but are still expected to abide by the group rules.

Conditions of participation

Travel contract

Registrations must be made in writing. The required form is enclosed or can be downloaded from the internet. The travel contract comes into effect when we confirm the registration in writing and the deposit of 50 € has been paid. In good time before the start of the trip (approx. 4-6 weeks) you will receive the parents' letter with further information.

After sending the registration confirmation, a deposit of 50 € is to be transferred immediately. The remaining amount is due immediately after receipt of the parents' letter. If payment is not made in time, the place and the deposit will be forfeited.

We recommend that you take out private travel cancellation insurance!

The participant can withdraw from the trip at any time before the start of the holiday camp. Cancellation must be made in writing to the Deutscher Familienverband Landesverband Thüringen.  In this case, a lump-sum replacement fee will be charged. This amounts to:
- up to 30 days before the start of the trip 50 €
- up to 14 days before the start of the trip 50 % of the trip price
- up to 2 days before departure 75 % of the tour price
- in the event of a later cancellation or if the participant does not commence the trip without prior written declaration, the full price of the trip is to be paid.
In compliance with strict Corona hygiene rules, we are making every effort to ensure that all camps will take place this year. Should any camps have to be canceled due to corona reasons, all participant fees paid up to that point will be refunded. You do not have to fear any financial disadvantages.

We reserve the right to modify programmes, parts of programmes or participation fees due to unforeseeable events or events for which we are not responsible. If the leisure time has to be canceled for compelling reasons (e.g. danger to the safety, health or life of the participants) before it begins, the full participation fee will be refunded. No further claims can be made. Any deficiencies that occur during the trip must be reported immediately to the supervisors or to our office. We must be given the opportunity to remedy them.
In principle, anyone can register for the holiday camps. However, the age recommendation should be taken into account when registering (if necessary, this can be deviated from by arrangement). In addition, the children must be able to participate in the selected leisure time. To do this, they must be able to handle hygiene, their personal belongings, individual free time in the object without direct supervision, free exit, etc. independently and on their own responsibility. If you have any doubts about this, please talk to us!
Medical care/accidents
Medical care is guaranteed in all cases. Parents or guardians will be informed by telephone in case of emergency. If they cannot be reached within a reasonable time, the medical decision applies for interventions. Accident insurance is also advisable so that there are no problems in case of need. If transport to the doctor is necessary, in exceptional cases this will be done in the car of a carer or by taxi. The costs incurred are to be borne by the parents.
Photo and video recordings
The organizer is entitled to publish photos and video recordings made during the leisure time for the purpose of advertising.
Our supervisors can only fulfill their duty of supervision if discussed rules and norms are followed. These include house rules, observance of meal times, night-time rest and the Youth Protection Act. The German Family Association reserves the right to send children home in case of blatant violations. The costs will be borne by the child or his/her legal guardian. A refund is excluded in this case. The same applies if a child is taken home early due to homesickness.
Exclusion from the holiday camp is also possible if:
-the child suffers from illnesses, behavioral problems or health impairments which were known to the parents but not reported to us.
- the law for the protection of minors is violated, e.g. alcohol, nicotine or drug consumption
- head lice are brought in
- they are bedwetters and this has not been reported to and agreed with us beforehand
- repeated and serious violations of the recreation rules occur and these are not stopped despite warnings
- Violence, right-wing extremist ideas and actions will not be tolerated.
Parents will be held fully liable for any wilful or negligent destruction or damage to property or injury to persons by the children. Therefore, every participant should have private liability insurance.
No liability is accepted for money and valuables. Exception from this is pocket money kept by the carers.
